Douglas County News & Information Posted on October 09, 2026 The Douglas County Land Services Department is launching a new Planning, Permitting & Land Use Mobile Office to assist residents affected by the Chelan Hills Fire as they navigate the rebuilding and recovery process. The mobile office will make its debut on Thursday, October 22, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Douglas County Fire District No. 4 parking lot, located at 13984 U.S. 2 in Orondo, WA. The mobile office is part of Douglas County’s post-disaster recovery efforts and will provide fire-affected residents with an opportunity to meet with Land Services staff closer to home for planning, building and land use assistance related to rebuilding. The mobile office gives fire-affected residents the opportunity to receive permitting assistance closer to home, eliminating the need to travel to the Land Services office in East Wenatchee for many services. “We want to make the rebuilding process as accessible and straightforward as possible for residents affected by the Chelan Hills Fire,” said Kazi Haque, Douglas County Land Services Director. “By bringing our staff and resources directly into the community, we can help residents understand the permitting process, answer questions and provide assistance as they move forward with rebuilding.” Staff will be available to discuss individual rebuilding and permitting needs, answer questions and help residents understand the steps involved in the recovery process. Some permits and applications may require additional review, but staff will work with residents to help move the process forward. Following the October 22 launch, the Planning, Permitting & Land Use Mobile Office is expected to operate once a month on the third Thursday, depending on community demand. The schedule and hours may be expanded if additional service is needed.
