Residents in the Upper Rio Grande Valley are advised to take immediate action to protect sensitive vegetation as a Freeze Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Albuquerque, NM. The watch is effective from late Wednesday night, October 14th, through Thursday morning, October 15th.

Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 29 degrees Fahrenheit are possible during this period. These conditions could kill crops and other sensitive plants, and potentially damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

The NWS urges residents to take steps now to protect tender plants from the anticipated cold. The Freeze Watch was issued on October 12th at 11:35 PM MDT and remains in effect until October 15th at 9:00 AM MDT.
