CITY OF ST. AUGUSTINE FIRE DEPARTMENT ASSISTANT FIRE CHIEF (OPERATIONS) The City of St. Augustine Fire Department is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Fire Chief (Operations). This is a professional and administrative position requiring extensive experience and education in the fire service and emergency medical services. The Assistant Fire Chief (Operations) is a Division Manager responsible for managing a division of 60 employees, including Battalion Chiefs, Lieutenants, Drivers, and Firefighters. The successful candidate will perform operational and administrative duties, including strategic planning, policy development, budget preparation and monitoring, and overall supervision and evaluation of fire suppression and EMS activities. The position reports to the Fire Chief. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Fire Science, Public Administration, Business Administration or a closely related field. Master’s degree preferred. Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in a paid municipal or county fire department, with at least five (5) years of command experience at the level of Battalion Chief or higher. Florida Firefighter Minimum Standards Certificate of Compliance. Florida Paramedic certification or ability to obtain Florida Paramedic certification within twelve (12) months of hire. Successful completion of Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License. Ability to respond to emergency and disaster situations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Chief Fire Officer (CFO) designation. Executive Fire Officer (EFO) designation.
