CLARKE COUNTY — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Jackson, MS, has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for Clarke County, effective immediately as of October 9 at 1:00 PM CDT. This warning indicates that tropical storm-force winds are expected within the area over the next 36 hours. The warning is set to expire on October 9, 2026, at 9:00 PM UTC.
Residents should prepare for hazardous winds of 15-25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Efforts to protect property, including securing lightweight objects and unanchored structures, should be underway. Limited damage to porches, sheds, and mobile homes is possible, along with broken tree limbs and scattered power outages. Complete preparations now before winds become hazardous.
