PVES Fourth Graders Win Awards at Tri-County Science Fair
Fourth graders from Putnam Valley Elementary School earned multiple awards at the Tri-County Science & Tech Fair on April 25 in Mamaroneck. Teachers Mrs. Bruno and Mrs. Broas prepared the students for the competition.
Principal Dr. Margaret Podesta praised both the educators and students in a letter to families on April 26.
The district will hold its final lockdown drill of the year this week, with state troopers on hand to review safety protocols. Fire drills are scheduled for late May.
Third quarter progress reports went home this week. Parents who want to discuss student performance should contact teachers to schedule meetings or calls. The school will issue final report cards at the end of June.
The district budget vote takes place May 19 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the elementary school cafeteria. Students accompanying parents to vote will choose a middle name for Mason, the school facility dog.
The Board of Education honored five retiring staff members at its recent meeting: Marielena Carilli, Barb deMey, Carl DeNisco, Liz Mello, and Bev Whalen. They leave the district in June.
