Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita's office is alerting Hoosier seniors to an increase in scam attempts targeting their demographic. Common tactics include fraudulent phone calls, emails, and mailers impersonating government agencies, utility companies, or well-known charities. Scammers often employ urgent requests for personal information, such as Social Security numbers or bank account details, or demand immediate payment for fictitious debts or services. The Attorney General's office urges seniors to be suspicious of unsolicited communications, never share personal information over the phone or online without verifying the sender, and to report any suspected scams to the Consumer Protection Division immediately. "Our seniors are valuable members of our communities, and it is unconscionable that criminals prey on them," said Attorney General Rokita. "We are committed to providing the resources and information necessary to help protect them from these predatory practices."
