Residents in the Grande Ronde Valley and Central Oregon are advised to take immediate action to protect sensitive plants and outdoor plumbing. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Pendleton has issued a Freeze Watch, effective from late tonight, October 9, through Saturday morning, October 10. Sub-freezing temperatures, potentially as low as 29 degrees Fahrenheit, are possible.

This Freeze Watch was issued today, October 9, at 6:10 AM PDT and remains in effect until October 10 at 10:00 AM PDT. The NWS Pendleton specifies that frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation. Unprotected outdoor plumbing could also sustain damage.

Property owners are instructed to take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. Further updates and potential advisories will be provided by the National Weather Service.
