A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Autauga County, including Prattville, by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham, AL, effective immediately as of October 9 at 4:20 PM CDT. Residents are advised to shelter from hazardous winds.
Peak winds of 35-45 mph with gusts up to 70 mph are expected to continue until Saturday morning. The NWS states that last-minute efforts to protect property should now be complete. The area remains subject to limited wind damage.
A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 2-4 inches of rain possible, with locally higher amounts. This could lead to moderate flooding, potentially prompting evacuations and rescues. Rivers and tributaries may become swollen, and small streams and ditches could overflow. Flood waters may enter some structures, and driving conditions could become hazardous with potential road and bridge closures. Residents in flood-vulnerable areas should consider protective actions.
