Tropical Storm Warning for Prattville: Shelter Immediately

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Prattville in Autauga County by the National Weather Service (NWS) Birmingham AL, effective immediately. Residents are advised to shelter from dangerous wind conditions now.

Equivalent Tropical Storm force winds are forecast, with peak winds of 35-45 mph and gusts up to 70 mph expected to continue until Saturday afternoon. The NWS indicates a potential for winds between 58 to 73 mph. Last-minute preparations for life and property protection should be complete.

A Flood Watch is also in effect. Additional rainfall of 2-4 inches, with locally higher amounts, is expected, posing a potential for major flooding. Emergency plans should account for major flooding, and evacuations and rescues are likely. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life. Major rainfall flooding may prompt numerous evacuations and rescues, with rivers and tributaries potentially overflowing their banks.
