Woods' Prescription Records Subpoenaed in DUI Case

In a Martin County circuit court hearing on May 12, Judge Darren Steele granted the prosecution's motion to subpoena golfer Tiger Woods' prescription drug records. Woods' legal team, led by attorney Douglas Duncan, argued against the subpoena, citing the golfer's constitutional right to privacy regarding his medical information. Prosecutors sought access to all prescription medication records from a Palm Beach pharmacy, spanning from the beginning of the current year through the end of April.

Woods, 50, was arrested on March 27 following a rollover car crash near his Jupiter, Florida home. A sheriff’s office report indicated deputies found two hydrocodone pain pills in his possession at the time of the arrest. He faces charges of misdemeanor DUI, property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test. Woods has entered a plea of not guilty to these charges.

Police reports state Woods was traveling at high speed before his vehicle collided with the rear of a pressure-cleaning truck, resulting in the rollover. He exited the vehicle through the passenger window. During the arrest, Woods reportedly showed signs of impairment and informed officers he had taken prescription medication, but denied consuming illegal substances. Authorities administered an alcohol breath test, which returned negative results. Woods declined a urinalysis. Following his arrest, he was booked into the Martin County Jail and released on bond after eight hours.
