Wilton Manors Police Shooting: What We Know So Far
An officer-involved shooting in Wilton Manors left at least one civilian hospitalized overnight, and this is what we know so far.
According to WSVN and Local 10, the shooting happened during a police response to a domestic violence disturbance, and a man was struck by gunfire. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue said one person was taken to Broward Health Medical Center with a gunshot wound, according to CBS Miami and WSVN.
Wilton Manors police said no officers were injured in the shooting, according to CBS Miami, WSVN and Local 10. Det. Haley Plante called the scene a “very active investigation” and said the roads were locked down and secured while the case was handed off to the Broward Sheriff's Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, according to CBS Miami.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is now investigating, which officials said is standard protocol in police-involved shootings, according to WSVN, CBS Miami, Miami Herald and Local 10. WSVN quoted officials saying, “At some point an officer-involved shooting occurred, and the man was struck by the gunfire.”
The response also prompted road closures around the scene. CBS Miami reported the road in front of the home would remain closed for several hours, and the Miami Herald reported the intersection of Northeast 26th Street and North Andrews Avenue would stay closed for some time while the area remained secure.
Dispatch records show prior incidents at the same address on May 27, May 21 and May 20, 2026, including a trauma call and two other responses.
What comes next is a formal review by FDLE and local investigators as they determine what led to the shooting and whether any charges will follow.
