Lightner Museum Hosts Groundbreaking Wiener Werkstätte Exhibit
Saint Augustine residents and visitors have a unique opportunity to explore a pivotal moment in modern design with "The Wiener Werkstätte: Art, Luxury, and Beauty in Modern Vienna" exhibit, currently on display at the Lightner Museum in historic downtown Saint Augustine.
The exhibit, a curatorial collaboration between the Lightner Museum and the Richard H. Driehaus Collection from Chicago, IL, introduces audiences to the Wiener Werkstätte (Vienna Workshops). This groundbreaking collective of artists, designers, and craftspeople was founded in Vienna at the dawn of the 20th century and significantly shaped the course of international modern design. Emerging from the spirit of the Vienna Secession and closely aligned with the ideals of the British Arts and Crafts Movement, the Wiener Werkstätte aimed to unite fine and applied arts by bringing outstanding design and meticulous craftsmanship to everyday life.
The exhibition is open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and will run through July 14, 2026. Please note that the museum is closed on Easter.
Admission to the exhibit is free for Lightner Museum members. For non-members, adult tickets are $20.00. Seniors, military personnel, and students can enter for $17.00. Youth aged 12-17 are $13.00, and children aged 11 and under are admitted free. Saint Johns County residents receive a discounted rate of $12.00 with a valid ID.
Tickets and additional information can be found on the event website.
