A deputy-involved shooting in Weston left one person dead, and the Broward Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident, according to BSO and WPTV.
Here is what we know so far.
According to Broward Sheriff’s Office reporting, deputies responded to the 1400 block of Capri Lane after Broward County Regional Communications received a report of a possible suspicious person in the area. BSO said deputies later made contact with the individual and that a deputy-involved shooting occurred during the response.
The person involved in the shooting died at the scene, and no other injuries were reported, according to the available reporting.
BSO has not released additional official findings, and the case remains an active investigation, according to the sheriff’s office and WPTV.
No road closures, evacuations or major traffic impacts were confirmed in the reporting available so far.
Emergency response remained focused on law enforcement, with the Broward Sheriff’s Office handling the scene and the follow-up investigation. The reported response appears consistent with a localized police incident rather than a mass-casualty event or broad public-safety emergency.
Dispatch records show prior incidents at this address, including other and medical emergency calls on Sept. 5, 2026, and a smoke investigation on Aug. 5, 2026.
What comes next will depend on additional statements from BSO, including any identification of the person who died, the circumstances that led to the shooting and whether deputies were injured. BSO has said the investigation is ongoing.
