Voter Views on Economy and President Trump Emerge in New Poll

Washington – A new NBC News poll indicates that a majority of registered voters attribute current economic conditions to President Donald Trump. These voter perspectives surface as midterm elections approach.

The poll results show 54% of registered voters hold President Trump responsible for the current state of the economy. This includes 37% who believe he bears a lot of responsibility and 17% who say he bears some responsibility. Another 20% of registered voters state he bears little responsibility, and 24% say he bears no responsibility. These numbers reflect opinions regarding the economic environment, including prices for goods and services.

The survey found 39% of registered voters approve of President Trump's job performance. Fifty-seven percent disapprove of his performance. This represents a two-point decrease in approval from a previous poll conducted in September.

Eighty-three percent of Republican voters approve of President Trump's performance. Fourteen percent of Republican voters disapprove. Among Democratic voters, 6% approve, and 91% disapprove. Independent voters show 34% approval and 60% disapproval.

The poll surveyed 1,000 registered voters. It was conducted from October 12 to 16. The margin of error for the survey is plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.
