USF Launches Florida's First University Ambulance Service on Tampa Campus

The University of South Florida (USF) launched Florida's first university-operated ambulance service on September 8, 2026, enhancing emergency medical care on its Tampa campus. The service began responding to 911 calls across the campus on that date.

This initiative provides immediate, high-quality medical attention to the campus community and reduces response times for emergencies. Two fully equipped ambulances operate 24/7, staffed by paramedics and EMTs, including USF students pursuing health professions. This collaborative effort involved USF’s Emergency Management, Student Health Services, and other campus divisions.

The launch of this service marked a new era for campus safety and medical response at USF, setting a precedent for other universities in Florida.
