U.S. Imposes New Sanctions on Iran, Seeks International Support

WASHINGTON D.C. – The United States government has announced new sanctions against Iran. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent detailed the administration's policy, stating that President Trump has called upon global leaders to support these economic measures targeting Tehran.

Bessent confirmed that the sanctions would apply universally, without specific exemptions. He noted that these restrictions could indirectly affect China due to its economic ties with Iran.

In a related development, Bessent also indicated President Trump's desire for Canada to re-engage in trade discussions. He specified that the administration seeks these negotiations to proceed in good faith.
