U.S. Ambassador Criticizes West Bank Incident as 'Horrific Act of Terror'

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Tom Nides on Sunday described the besieging of Palestinian homes in the West Bank village of Huwara as a "horrific act of terror." The statement came after reports of violence in the village following a shooting attack that killed two Israeli settlers.

Nides issued his remarks via Twitter. The violence in Huwara reportedly involved Israeli settlers attacking Palestinian residents and their property.

Reports from the region indicated that Israeli forces deployed additional troops to Huwara. This deployment aimed to reinforce security in the area. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated the reinforcements were a response to the escalating situation.

The events in Huwara followed a shooting attack earlier that day. Assailants opened fire on a vehicle, killing two Israeli settlers, identified as brothers Hillel Yaniv and Yagel Yaniv. They were driving through Huwara when the attack occurred.

Israeli authorities launched a search for the perpetrators of the shooting. The incident intensified tensions in the West Bank.
