The removal of General Zaluzhnyi occurred after public protests and reports of a strained relationship between the general and the president. These tensions reportedly centered on disagreements regarding military planning and operational strategies. Following Zaluzhnyi's departure, President Zelenskyy appointed Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi as the new Commander-in-Chief. Syrskyi previously commanded Ukraine's ground forces.
