Ukraine President Replaces Top Military Commander Amid Public Pressure
KYIV, UKRAINE — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has removed General Valerii Zaluzhnyi from his position as commander-in-chief of the armed forces, according to an announcement from the president's office. The change in leadership occurred on Thursday, February 8.
Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi will succeed Zaluzhnyi. Syrskyi previously commanded Ukraine's ground forces.
