UFC Fighter Josh Hokit Draws Criticism After Remarks About Michelle Obama

WASHINGTON – UFC fighter Josh Hokit made comments regarding former First Lady Michelle Obama during a post-fight interview at the White House 'UFC Freedom 250' event on Sunday. The remarks followed his victory over Derrick White in a heavyweight bout.

The 'UFC Freedom 250' event took place on the White House lawn. UFC President Dana White stated in the weeks leading up to the event that it was intended as an apolitical celebration of America's 250th anniversary. The event also coincided with President Donald Trump's 80th birthday.

Following his second-round knockout win, Hokit stated, "Michelle Obama is a man!" during an interview with Joe Rogan. He then asked, "Am I right America?"

Reactions to Hokit's comments emerged on social media. Jessica Tarlov of Fox News described Hokit as "absolute trash." Former NFL player Robert Griffin III called Hokit "a disgrace," adding, "It takes a really small man to use his biggest moment to attack a woman by calling her a man."

Dan Dakich of OutKick called Hokit's decision "idiotic." Sportswriter Alex Kirshner characterized the moment as "the most embarrassing moment for an American pro sports league in quite some time."

U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury referenced a weigh-in event on Saturday where Hokit appeared to vomit. During that event, Hokit stated he had been drinking the previous night and added, "I have a giant Black man that wants to knock me out."
