Trump Recommends Graham's Sister for Interim Senate Appointment

Former President Donald Trump has named Darla Graham as his preferred candidate for a temporary U.S. Senate appointment in South Carolina. Senator Lindsey Graham, Darla Graham's brother, died over the weekend at age 71. Governor Henry McMaster of South Carolina is expected to announce his selection for the interim Senate seat later today.

Mr. Trump publicly communicated his recommendation to Governor McMaster. The appointment will serve as a temporary measure until a special election can determine a permanent successor. South Carolina state law grants the governor the authority to fill such vacancies.
