TMJ Awareness Event Held at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center
Fort Walton Beach residents had the opportunity to learn more about Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) disorders yesterday, April 7, 2026, during an awareness event held at the Fort Walton Beach Medical Center on Mar Walt Drive. The event, organized by local dental and medical professionals, aimed to educate the community on the symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment options for TMJ.
Attendees received informational pamphlets and had the chance to speak with Dr. Eleanor Vance, a local oral surgeon with offices on Eglin Parkway, and Dr. Marcus Thorne, a physical therapist specializing in craniofacial pain at his clinic near the Santa Rosa Mall. Both professionals emphasized that early detection and intervention can significantly improve outcomes for those suffering from TMJ-related discomfort, which can manifest as jaw pain, headaches, and difficulty chewing.
The event was free and open to the public, drawing a steady stream of curious residents from the historic downtown and nearby neighborhoods throughout the afternoon. Organizers indicated they plan to host similar community health awareness programs later in the year.
