TMJ Awareness Event Held at Fort Walton Beach Library

Fort Walton Beach residents gathered at the Fort Walton Beach Public Library in downtown yesterday, April 7, 2026, for an informational session on Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) disorders. The event, organized by local health advocates, aimed to raise awareness about the common condition and provide resources for those experiencing symptoms.

Attendees learned about the various causes, symptoms, and treatment options for TMJ disorders, which can manifest as jaw pain, headaches, and difficulty chewing. Dr. Eleanor Vance, a local dentist with a practice on Eglin Parkway, presented on diagnostic methods and non-invasive therapies. "Many people suffer from TMJ without realizing what it is or that effective treatments are available right here in Fort Walton Beach," Dr. Vance explained to the group.

The session also included a Q&A segment, allowing community members to ask specific questions about their experiences. Information on local specialists and support groups was distributed. The library plans to host similar health awareness events throughout the year, continuing its role as a vital community resource along the Emerald Coast.
