Ticket Resale Platform Shows Varied Pricing for Identical Seats
A recent analysis revealed that two individuals attempting to purchase the same seat for a Harry Styles concert on StubHub encountered different final prices. These price variations stemmed from the fees applied by the ticket reselling platform. The difference observed for a single seat was $62.
NEW YORK – A recent review of ticket purchasing on the resale platform StubHub found varying final prices for identical seats at a Harry Styles concert. One individual encountered a cost of $455 for a specific seat, while another saw the same seat listed at $517. This $62 difference resulted from the fees StubHub added to the base ticket price.
Ticket brokers like StubHub apply various fees to transactions. These fees can influence the total amount a consumer pays for a ticket. The base ticket price for the analyzed Harry Styles concert at Madison Square Garden remained consistent; however, the applied fees differed between the two purchase attempts.
This pricing discrepancy suggests that the final cost presented to a buyer on StubHub can vary, even for the same inventory. The platform's fee structure dictates these variations, affecting the total expenditure for consumers seeking event tickets.
