National Desk
May 10, 2026
Three men from Lauderhill have been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Ammon Watson in Oakland Park on August 24, 2024, the Broward Sheriff's Office announced Friday.
Watson was shot and killed just before noon near the 2100 block of Northwest 28th Street. According to BSO spokeswoman Miranda Grossman, the shooter approached Watson in the driveway of a family home, opened fire, and fled on foot. Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded and pronounced Watson dead at the scene.
Detectives with the BSO Homicide Unit and V.I.P.E.R. team identified Ta'Narine Hamilton, 18; Khalil Elie, 22; and Morris King Jr., 19, as suspects. All three face one count of first-degree felony murder. Hamilton was already in custody on unrelated charges when identified as a suspect in Watson's death. Elie was arrested June 16, while King Jr. was located in Sunrise on July 10 and booked into the BSO Main Jail. Both Elie and King Jr. are being held without bond.
The killing underscores ongoing public safety concerns in the region as violent crime incidents continue to spike across South Florida's urban areas. BSO did not release a motive for the shooting. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Broward Sheriff's Office.
