National Desk
April 23, 2026
Thornton Police Department officers responded just before 11 p.m. to a report of someone bleeding near the intersection of East 88th Avenue and Grant Street, according to a news release posted to social media. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 29-year-old man on the ground with a wound and immediately began rendering medical aid. He was transported to a hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
The victim's identity has not been released pending positive identification by the Adams County Coroner's Office and notification of next of kin. Police have not disclosed how the man was wounded or whether a suspect has been identified, saying only that the incident remains under investigation.
This homicide marks another significant incident for law enforcement in the Thornton area. In January, three suspects were charged in connection with a fatal burglary attempt in the 9600 block of Huron Street when gunshots were exchanged between residents and those attempting to break into the home. That incident resulted in the death of one suspect.
Thornton Police Department is urging anyone with information about the recent homicide to contact the department's tip line at (720) 977-5069. Detectives continue to work the case as part of an active investigation.
