Tate Brothers Arrested in U.S. Amid New and Previous Charges

Miami, FL – U.S. federal agents arrested internet personalities Andrew and Tristan Tate in Miami, Florida, on Friday. Authorities took the brothers into custody based on an extradition request from the United Kingdom, where they face new accusations of rape and human trafficking. The U.K. charges bring the total number of alleged offenses against the siblings to 59, according to reports from the BBC.

The arrests occurred as the Tates were in the United States. Prior to this, Romanian prosecutors had indicted the brothers and two Romanian women in June 2023 for human trafficking, rape, and forming an organized crime group. These charges stemmed from an investigation initiated in December 2022.

Romanian authorities had detained Andrew and Tristan Tate in December 2022. They faced initial accusations related to human trafficking, rape, and organized crime. Prosecutors alleged they exploited women to create adult content for online platforms. The brothers consistently denied these charges. A Bucharest court released them from house arrest in August 2023, placing them under judicial control with restrictions on travel outside the Bucharest region.
