Tasty Tokyo Detour
Fort Myers residents looking for a new culinary adventure will be pleased to hear about the upcoming opening of 'Tokyo Detour,' a new Japanese restaurant set to open its doors on April 22, 2026. Located at 123 Main Street, in the former 'Pizza Palace' location, Tokyo Detour promises to bring authentic Japanese flavors with a modern twist to the heart of historic downtown Fort Myers.
Owner and head chef, Kenji Tanaka, a long-time Fort Myers resident, expressed his excitement about the venture. "I've always dreamed of bringing a piece of my heritage to this wonderful community," Tanaka said. "We'll be offering everything from traditional sushi and sashimi to unique ramen bowls and izakaya-style small plates, all prepared with the freshest local ingredients whenever possible."
The restaurant has undergone extensive renovations over the past three months, transforming the space into a sleek and inviting dining experience that complements the charm of the River District. Tokyo Detour will be open for dinner service Tuesday through Sunday, from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Reservations are highly recommended for opening week. Locals can anticipate a grand opening celebration with special promotions and perhaps even a traditional sake toast.
