Tamarac Medical Facility Fire: What We Know So Far
A woman was hospitalized with burns and smoke inhalation after a fire at a medical building in Tamarac, and officials say the cause is still under investigation.
According to the Tamarac Fire Department, crews responded to the blaze at the HCA complex, where flames were visible from third-floor windows. A female patient was first taken to a local hospital and later transferred to a specialized burn unit in Miami-Dade County.
NBC 6 South Florida reported that a woman was critically injured in the fire at the medical facility. The fire department said one person was hospitalized with burns and smoke inhalation after the blaze.
Fire rescue units from Sunrise, Margate and the Broward Sheriff's Office assisted Tamarac Fire in extinguishing the flames, underscoring a multiagency response to a fire that moved beyond a routine first-alarm call.
Fire officials said fire marshals and the City of Tamarac will investigate the cause of the fire. No cause has been released.
Dispatch records show 119 similar structure fire incidents in Tamarac in the past six months, though there is no indication this fire is connected to any earlier incident.
