Tamarac Launches Free Grocery Home Delivery Program for Eligible Residents with Dare to Care, Inc.

Tamarac residents facing food insecurity now have access to a new free grocery home delivery program. The City of Tamarac, in partnership with Dare to Care, Inc., began offering this service to eligible residents this week.

The program provides weekly deliveries of nutritious, non-perishable food items directly to residents' doors. This initiative aims to support individuals and families who struggle to access food due to financial, physical, or mental health challenges.

To qualify for the program, residents must be unable to travel to a food pickup location due to financial, physical, or mental health needs, or attest to a financial need, such as low income or recent job loss. Residents receiving benefits like SNAP, SSI, WIC, Medicaid, KidCare, or Temporary Family Assistance also meet the eligibility criteria. Households with six or more people may receive two boxes of food per delivery.

The application process involves completing a secure online form. After review, the program confirms eligibility, and Dare to Care staff coordinate delivery days and times directly with participating residents. Residents must be available to receive their food delivery at the scheduled time.

Dare to Care, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Lauderhill, brings over 20 years of experience providing groceries to Broward County residents. The organization currently serves approximately 450–500 families through its weekly food distribution. For this new Tamarac program, Dare to Care will coordinate with City of Tamarac Social Services to identify residents in need.

Initially, the program will serve 50 residents, with weekly deliveries continuing for 26 weeks. For questions regarding the program, eligibility, or the application process, residents can contact City of Tamarac Social Services Monday through Thursday, from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. EST.
