Tamarac House Fire Leaves 2 Dead: What We Know So Far
Two people died in a Tamarac house fire that investigators believe may have involved an assisted living facility, according to WSVN. This is what we know so far.
According to WSVN, Tamarac Fire Rescue spokesperson Van Schoen said crews found one fatality at the home and that another person, who was first described as gravely injured and taken away as a trauma alert, later died. “We did find one fatality here. Another person was gravely injured and was taken as a trauma alert and subsequently has passed away,” Schoen said.
Fire crews extinguished the blaze, and investigators stayed at the scene for hours after the fire was brought under control, according to WSVN. Officials said they were working with the State Fire Marshal’s Office to determine what caused the fire. No final cause has been reported, and no suspect information was available in the coverage.
The response included Tamarac Fire Rescue investigators and the State Fire Marshal’s Office, according to WSVN. The prolonged presence of investigators after the fire was out indicates a death investigation and fire-cause probe were still active at the scene.
Dispatch records show 176 similar structure fire incidents in Tamarac over the past six months, which suggests this type of emergency has been a recurring call category in the city.
Officials had not reported any confirmed evacuation order or road closure in the available coverage. The investigation remains underway as authorities work to determine how the fire started and whether the home was being used as an assisted living facility.
