Supreme Court Rules on Birthright Citizenship Executive Order

The Supreme Court issued a decision yesterday in the case of *Trump v. Barbara*, rejecting Executive Order 14160. Former President Donald Trump had issued the order with the stated goal of ending birthright citizenship.

Chief Justice John Roberts authored the majority opinion for the Court. The opinion concluded that Executive Order 14160 was invalid.

The Court predicated its ruling on the Constitution. Justices stated the decision affirmed equal birthright citizenship for individuals born on American soil and under the American flag.
