Supreme Court Declines Trump's Appeal in Carroll Case

WASHINGTON – The Supreme Court on Monday declined to review a lower court's decision concerning a $5 million judgment against former President Donald Trump. This action by the court leaves in place a jury's finding that Trump sexually abused and defamed writer E. Jean Carroll.

This marks the second time the nation's highest court has turned away an appeal from Trump in this specific case. The decision means the jury's verdict, issued in May 2023, stands.

A federal jury in New York previously found Trump liable for the sexual abuse of Carroll in the 1990s and for defaming her when she publicly accused him. The jury awarded Carroll $5 million in damages.
