Strong Thunderstorms Approaching Central & East Laramie County

Residents in Central and East Laramie County should be aware of strong thunderstorms moving through the area. The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued a Special Weather Statement, effective immediately until 2:45 PM MDT today, September 20, 2026.

At 1:56 PM MDT, radar indicated a line of strong thunderstorms extending from Burns to west of Carpenter, moving east at 15 mph. These storms are capable of producing wind gusts up to 40 mph and hail up to half an inch in size.

Potential impacts include downed tree limbs, unsecured objects being blown around, and minor damage to vegetation from hail. Areas expected to be impacted include Pine Bluffs, Burns, Egbert, Carpenter, and Pine Bluffs Municipal Airport.

If you are outdoors in the affected areas, please consider seeking shelter inside a building until the storms pass.
