Strong Thunderstorm Threatens Comanche, Barber Counties

Residents in Comanche and Barber Counties should prepare for a strong thunderstorm bringing wind gusts up to 55 mph and pea-sized hail. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Dodge City issued a Special Weather Statement at 7:11 PM CDT, effective until 8:00 PM CDT.

At 7:10 PM CDT, radar indicated a strong thunderstorm 10 miles southwest of Aetna, moving northeast at 20 mph. This storm is expected to reach Aetna around 7:30 PM CDT.

Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and displace unsecured outdoor objects. Minor damage to vegetation from hail is possible. If you are outdoors, the NWS advises seeking shelter inside a building immediately.
