Strong Storm Near Citronelle: Seek Shelter If Outdoors

A Special Weather Statement has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Mobile, AL, for a strong thunderstorm impacting parts of Mobile and George counties. The NWS advises that if you are outdoors, you should consider seeking shelter inside a building.

As of 7:47 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm located over Gulfcrest, approximately 7 miles south of Citronelle. The storm is moving southwest at 20 mph.

Hazards associated with this storm include wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea-sized hail. These conditions could result in gusty winds capable of knocking down tree limbs and blowing around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible.

Areas expected to be impacted include Citronelle, Chunchula, Gulfcrest, Tanner Williams, and Wilmer. The Special Weather Statement is effective immediately and expires at 8:30 PM CDT tonight.
