Storm Warning: Mariners Advised to Seek Port for Coastal Waters

A Storm Warning has been issued for coastal and ocean waters off Massachusetts, effective immediately. Mariners in the affected areas are advised to remain in port or secure vessels due to severe conditions.

The National Weather Service Boston/Norton MA issued the warning on September 24 at 12:06 PM EDT, active until September 26 at 8:00 PM EDT. Northeast winds of 25 to 35 knots, with gusts up to 60 knots, and seas of 20 to 25 feet are expected.

The warning applies to coastal waters from Provincetown MA to Chatham MA to Nantucket MA out 20 NM, and Ocean Waters from Provincetown to Nantucket from 20 to 60 NM. These conditions are expected from 8 AM Friday to 8 PM EDT Saturday.

Impacts include the potential for vessels to capsize or be damaged, and reduced visibility. The National Weather Service instructs mariners to remain in port, alter course, and/or secure their vessels for these severe conditions.
