Storm Warning Issued: Northeast Winds Up To 60 Knots Expected

Mariners are urged to remain in port, alter course, or secure their vessels due to a Storm Warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Boston/Norton, MA. This warning is in effect from Friday, September 24, at 11 AM EDT until Saturday, September 25, at 8 PM EDT.

The NWS forecasts northeast winds of 25 to 35 knots with gusts up to 60 knots and seas of 19 to 24 feet. These severe conditions are expected to impact coastal waters east of Ipswich Bay and the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary, as well as Massachusetts Bay and Ipswich Bay. Additionally, ocean waters from the Merrimack River to Plymouth, extending 40 to 60 nautical miles offshore, are included in this warning.

The NWS advises that storm force winds and hazardous seas will capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. All mariners operating in these affected areas should take immediate action to ensure their safety and the security of their vessels.
