Stained Glass Deva Unveiled at St. Pete Arts Alliance
A new stained glass art piece, titled "Stained Glass Deva," was officially unveiled yesterday, April 15, at the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance headquarters located at 100 2nd Avenue North. The vibrant artwork, created by local artist Sarah Jenkins, is now a permanent fixture in the Alliance's main gallery space, visible to visitors and passersby through the street-facing windows along bustling downtown St. Pete sidewalks.
The installation marks a significant addition to the downtown arts scene, highlighting the talent within our community. Jenkins, a long-time resident of the Old Northeast neighborhood, one of St. Pete's cherished historic enclaves, spent over six months crafting the intricate piece, which measures approximately six feet by four feet. She is known for her contemporary approach to traditional stained glass techniques.
During a small ceremony yesterday afternoon, St. Petersburg Arts Alliance Executive Director John Smith expressed his enthusiasm for the new acquisition. "This 'Stained Glass Deva' truly embodies the spirit of creativity and beauty that we champion here at the Alliance," Smith stated. "It's a testament to the rich artistic talent we have right here in St. Pete, and we encourage everyone to come and experience it firsthand."
The St. Petersburg Arts Alliance is open to the public Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. There is no admission fee to view the artwork.
