Spring Hill Girls Softball League Announces Evaluation Dates
Spring Hill's young athletes are gearing up for another exciting softball season, with the Spring Hill Girls Softball League (SHGSL) announcing evaluation dates for the upcoming season. These evaluations are a key step in forming balanced teams across various age divisions, ensuring fair play and competitive games for all participants.
Evaluations are scheduled to take place at the Spring Hill Sports Complex, a beloved local venue on Main Street, over two weekends in late April. Girls registered for the 8U and 10U divisions will have their evaluations on Saturday, April 26th, starting at 9:00 AM. Players in the 12U and 14U divisions will follow on Sunday, April 27th, also beginning at 9:00 AM.
League officials emphasize that these evaluations are not tryouts in the traditional sense, but rather an assessment of skill levels to help coaches draft teams that are as evenly matched as possible. This approach aims to foster sportsmanship and provide a positive experience for every player, regardless of their prior experience.
Parents are reminded to ensure their daughters arrive at least 15 minutes prior to their scheduled evaluation time to check in and warm up. Players should come dressed in appropriate athletic wear, including cleats, and bring their own glove, bat, and helmet if they have them. Water bottles are also highly recommended.
For those who have not yet registered, the SHGSL encourages immediate sign-up through their official website. While late registrations may be accepted, participating in the evaluations is crucial for team placement. Any questions regarding the evaluation process or registration can be directed to the league's volunteer coordinator, whose contact information is available on the SHGSL website.
The Spring Hill Girls Softball League has been a cornerstone of youth sports in our sunny Hernando County community for decades, providing opportunities for girls to develop athletic skills, build friendships, and learn valuable life lessons through teamwork and competition. The community looks forward to another successful season on the diamond.
