**Special Weather Statement issued September 17 at 2:17PM EDT by NWS Charleston WV**

At 217 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from Catlettsburg to Alum Creek. Movement was southeast at 20 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible.

Locations impacted include... Huntington, Ashland, Wayne, Hamlin, Beech Fork State Park, Barboursville, Kenova, Catlettsburg, Ceredo, Alum Creek, South Point, Burlington, West Hamlin, Lockwood, Ashford, Summit, Salt Rock, Yawkey, Myra, and Sweetland.

This includes the following highways... Interstate 64 in Kentucky between mile markers 188 and 191. Interstate 64 in West Virginia between mile markers 1 and 14. Route 119 between mile markers 61 and 68.

**What You Should Do:**

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
