Parkland residents are encouraged to sign up for the city's new emergency alert system, "Parkland Connect." The system, launched last week, aims to provide timely notifications about local emergencies, road closures such as those on University Drive, severe weather, and other critical community information directly to residents' phones and email inboxes.
City Manager Sarah Jenkins emphasized the importance of community participation. "In times of emergency, every second counts," Jenkins stated. "Parkland Connect will allow us to disseminate vital information quickly and efficiently, ensuring our residents are informed and safe. We urge everyone to take a few minutes to register."
Registration is free and can be completed online through the City of Parkland's official website. Residents can customize their alert preferences, choosing to receive notifications via text message, email, or voice call. The system is designed to be user-friendly and secure, protecting personal information while delivering essential updates.
The city council approved the implementation of Parkland Connect last month, allocating funds from the public safety budget to enhance communication infrastructure. This initiative is part of a broader effort to improve emergency preparedness across the community, including its family-friendly neighborhoods like Pine Trails.
For more information and to sign up, visit the City of Parkland's website or contact the City Clerk's office at City Hall on Main Street during business hours.
