Palmetto Bay Approves Resilience Plan for Flooding
Palmetto Bay adopted a Resilience Action Plan on July 7 to address flooding risks from sea level rise, heavy rain, and changing groundwater levels.
The plan identifies which Village facilities, roads, and neighborhoods face the greatest flood danger. It also maps compound flooding scenarios, where storm surge, rainfall, and the Village's canal system interact to worsen flooding.
A Steering Committee of Village staff and local stakeholders shaped the plan by identifying critical assets, flood risks, and adaptation strategies. The Village developed the plan through the state's Resilient Florida Program, which helps communities assess and reduce flood vulnerability.
