Staff Writer
May 19, 2026
The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning for Holmes County from 8:08 a.m. to 8 p.m. EDT on April 7, citing critical fire weather conditions that could fuel rapid wildfire spread.
Northeast winds will gust between 25 and 30 mph, with relative humidity dropping to 22 to 28 percent. These conditions create extreme fire behavior risks.
The warning covers Florida fire weather zones 008, 014, 016, 017, 108, 112, 326, and 426, plus several Georgia zones.
Local authorities ban outdoor burning during this period. Residents should report smoke or fire to emergency services immediately.
