Candice Hancock Recognized for Quest Training Center Work
Candice Hancock manages tube feedings, administers medications, and assists with personal care at Quest's Training Center in Apopka. The direct support professional joined Quest in 2019 after driving participants for Access LYNX, where her rapport with clients caught the attention of staffing coordinator Shanna Berrian.
Hancock notices subtle changes in participants—shifts in expression or breathing—and responds quickly when needed. She taught basic sign language to a nonverbal participant, enabling the individual to communicate needs like restroom use. That intervention reduced the participant's behavioral incidents.
Faye Murphy, vice president of training and recreation at Quest, credits Hancock with a gift for working with clients who have higher behavioral support needs. Hancock also mentors new staff members, guiding them through hands-on training.
Quest supports individuals with developmental disabilities through programs including Quest Village, an independent residential community for adults.
