Pompano Beach Storage Fire: What We Know So Far
A warehouse fire at Extra Space Storage in Pompano Beach was contained with no injuries reported, according to Pompano Beach Fire Rescue.
According to the official advisory, crews were called to the scene at 2:01 a.m. and found smoke and flames coming from the storage warehouse. Firefighters extinguished the blaze using numerous apparatus, and officials said no one was hurt.
Damage was concentrated inside the building: nine units were damaged by fire, all 40 units sustained smoke damage, and a car stored in one of the units was destroyed along with other contents, according to the advisory. The damage estimate was listed at $250,000, not including the contents of the building.
The cause remains under investigation by the Pompano Beach Fire Prevention Bureau, according to officials. No road closures or traffic impacts were mentioned in the available reporting.
Dispatch records show 155 similar structure fire incidents in Hallandale Beach over the past six months, underscoring how frequently fire calls are handled in the area. In this case, however, the official advisory identifies the fire as a Pompano Beach warehouse fire, not a Hallandale Beach structure fire.
What happens next will depend on the fire prevention bureau's investigation, which will determine how the blaze started and whether any additional safety issues are identified.
Day.News will continue to update this story as officials release more information.
