A Pompano Beach quadruplex fire displaced six people and sent two people to the hospital, according to the city’s Strategic Communications Office. This is what we know so far.
Officials said one resident suffered a laceration after jumping from a window to escape smoke and flames, while a second person was hospitalized after having a seizure, according to the city. The remaining residents escaped without injury, and two of the four units were left uninhabitable.
The American Red Cross was providing temporary housing and recovery assistance to the displaced residents, according to officials. No road closures or traffic impacts were reported in the available search results.
The cause of the fire was under joint investigation by Pompano Beach fire investigators, the Broward Sheriff’s Office and the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office, according to the city’s Strategic Communications Office and fire officials. No cause or suspect information had been released.
Dispatch records show 438 similar structure fire incidents in Pompano Beach over the past six months.
