A 10-year-old boy was hospitalized after a shooting near Hunters Manor Park in Pompano Beach, and this is what we know so far.
According to WSVN, the boy was struck after he had been playing basketball at Hunters Manor Park and was walking a friend home when a teenager drove by on a scooter. NBC Miami reported the shooting was a drive-by and that surveillance video released by the Broward Sheriff’s Office captured the incident. The boy’s injuries were described as not life-threatening, and he was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, according to the reports.
Broward Sheriff’s Office and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded to the scene along the 1700 block of Northwest Fourth Street just after 6:30 p.m., according to WSVN. BSO’s Violent Crimes Unit is continuing the investigation, and detectives have not publicly identified the shooter or shooters in the available reporting, according to NBC Miami.
That response level indicates investigators treated the case as an active violent-crime scene, with fire rescue assisting at the location and detectives handling follow-up work, according to the reports.
