Pompano Beach Crash Investigation: What We Know So Far
A fatal crash at Sample Road and Powerline Road in Pompano Beach killed one person and injured several others, according to local news reports and the Broward Sheriff’s Office. Here is what we know so far.
According to CBS Miami and WSVN 7News, the driver involved allegedly ran a red light and struck multiple vehicles. Justin Crouse was pronounced dead at the scene, according to those reports.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office said charges could be pending once the investigation is complete, indicating detectives are still sorting out fault and whether criminal charges will be filed. No additional official findings were immediately released.
Although the original emergency dispatch referenced 1500 N Powerline Rd, web research did not confirm a major accident at that exact address on June 6. Other nearby Powerline Road incidents reported in the media involved a smoke shop crash, a Brightline vehicle collision and a propane tank explosion, but none matched the initial dispatch location and time.
No verified road closure or traffic impact was confirmed for the initial call. Related Powerline Road-area incidents did produce closures in the area, but those were tied to separate events.
Dispatch records show prior incidents at the same N Powerline Road address in the days leading up to this call, including a medical emergency on June 5, a fall injury on June 4 and another incident on June 3.
For the confirmed fatal crash, investigators remain on scene work and evidence review, and officials have not said when a full update will be released. Day.News will continue to update this story as officials release more information.
