Pembroke Pines City Commission Approves Water Conservation Partnership with Broward County

The Pembroke Pines City Commission approved an Interlocal Agreement with Broward County for the Broward Water Partnership/Conservation Pays Program. The Commission met on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 6:30 PM, at Bright Beginnings Day Care Center.

This agreement formalizes Pembroke Pines' participation in the Conservation Pays Program, a regional rebate and incentives initiative. The Broward Water Partnership funds this program, and Broward County's Natural Resources Division administers it. The program involves municipal and utility partners across the county.

The Conservation Pays Program aims to encourage residents and businesses in Broward County to adopt an enduring water conservation ethic. It also seeks to achieve permanent and measurable water savings by replacing low-efficiency plumbing fixtures with high-efficiency models. The program includes an aggressive media campaign to promote water conservation and inform residents about available resources.

The Interlocal Agreement, along with exhibits titled "City of Pembroke Pines - Conservation Pays ILA FY27-31_1_1" and "2025 BWP Annual Report," outlines the cost-share support for this initiative. This partnership ensures a collaborative program with uniform branding across Broward County, making it easier for residents to identify and participate in water-saving efforts.

The approval means Pembroke Pines residents can now benefit from the rebates and incentives offered through the Conservation Pays Program, contributing to broader water resource sustainability efforts in the region.
